Ultimate Costa Maya Cruise Port Escape: Serene Sunrise & Thrilling Spectacular Show

Day 6 aboard the Wonder of the Seas has arrived, and today we’re finally docking at the beautiful Costa Maya Cruise Port!

Our last planned stop here was back in 2019, but bad weather forced the cruise to skip this port.

I’ve been to Costa Maya before, though it’s been quite a while, while Leah was stepping foot here for the very first time. Naturally, we were both eager to disembark and dive into exploring the vibrant port.

Join us as we share our Ultimate Costa Maya Cruise Port Escape!

Early Morning Serenity and Solo Breakfast

I woke up around 6:00am and took a peaceful walk around the ship.

We had already docked in Costa Maya, but I took some time to enjoy the sunrise. It was absolutely beautiful!

I grabbed a latte from the Windjammer and made my way up to the pool deck and watched the Regal Princess dock nearby. Afterwards, I enjoyed a solo breakfast at Johnny Rockets, ordering my favorite BELT sandwich—delicious as always. The service was quick and friendly, with everything done in under 15 minutes.

After breakfast, I made my way to Deck 5, aft, to catch up on a little reading.

Meanwhile, Leah started her morning with breakfast at the Windjammer.

Exploring the Vibrant Costa Maya Port

We disembarked around 9:00am to explore Costa Maya. Since it was Leah’s first time visiting, we were curious to see what the port had to offer. Initially, we didn’t expect much, but Costa Maya pleasantly surprised us. The port features a fantastic shopping area, a large pool with a swim-up bar, lively music, and engaging entertainment.

While it was a bit crowded, the atmosphere was welcoming and friendly—people were warm, the shops were well-maintained, and vendors were respectful, not pushy at all. One of the highlights was watching the traditional Papantla Flyers ritual, which was incredible. We also enjoyed seeing the flamingos.

    Poolside Relaxation and Refreshing Treats

After returning to the ship, we grabbed a coffee and one of our favorite quick bites—a Jerk Pork Wrap from Café Promenade.

We then settled in for some relaxing time by the pool with the Drink of the Day, Portside Punch. Leah got a little too much sun and decided to make her way to the solarium for a nap, while I stayed by the pool enjoying plenty of mojitos and live Caribbean music. Around 2:00pm, I joined her in the solarium just before we set sail from Costa Maya at 2:30pm—an hour later than planned due to a few passengers missing the ship.

We skipped lunch today; although we love the cruise food, the drinks were flowing, and we simply weren’t very hungry.

Dress Your Best Night and an Unforgettable Evening

Tonight was “Dress Your Best” night, so we headed back to our room to freshen up and get ready for a special evening.

Dinner was served in the Main Dining Room, and both of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Leah enjoyed her Onion Tart and Chicken Marsala, skipping dessert.

For me, this night is always a favorite onboard—I absolutely love the Onion Tart (my top pick), Escargot, and Lobster. I wrapped up my meal with the Warm Chocolate Cake.

After dinner, we took a brief nap and changed before heading to the show Effectors II. The production was absolutely stunning, featuring incredible special effects and captivating performances.

To finish off the night, we grabbed some pizza and called it an early night.
